::This place needs a lot of improvement. So far, worst customer service I’ve ever gotten in Colombia. I stayed the night of January 5th, 2018. I’m a dual citizen of Colombia and United States. I have not lived in Colombia for more than a decade. When I arrived to the hotel, the receptionist asked for my passport, I gave her my American passport so I would not have to pay for the hotel tax that is only for Colombian residents. I was told by the receptionist that I still had to pay the tax. I told her that I am not required since I’m not a resident of Colombia. She blamed the accountant and told me that if I don’t pay it, she has to pay it out of her pocket. I got very annoyed since she was breaking the law. And actually charging me for the hotel tax is illegal. Instead of helping me out and waiving the tax, how other hotels in Colombia do it, she yelled at me and told me that she cannot do anything. I told her that I was going to complain with the DIAN, and she yelled at me telling me that I could still sue the hotel and still I had to pay for th tax. She was very disrespectful and not professional. I did not want to argue with someone who does not follow rules and laws, I was tired and went to my room. The following day, I went to eat breakfast at 9 am and there was nothing left. The only thing that was available was cereal. We requested more eggs and the Colombian soup. However, we had to wait almost 1 hour for them to make scramble eggs, In addition to this disappointment, there were no options for lactose intolerant people or people allergic to gluten. I requested something for my sister who is both lactose intolerant and allergic to gluten, the only response from the chef was “you had to request it before your stay”. I’ve been to other hotels in Colombia and they offer better breakfast options. After waiting 1 hour to get our scramble eggs, while eating them I found 5 pieces of egg cage. I told the manager and he completely ignored it. I did not finished my breakfast and I left instead. The only person that went out of his way to make us feel welcomed was the gentleman who helped us with our bags, Mr. Ramirez. Also, the shuttle service was convenient and the hotel is nice and new. However, I would not stay at this place again because they are doing illegal business practices. I did not like that they are unethical and rude. I will go back to Aloft hotel, Bogota.
